“PLAYING ROLES” Meeting 12/01
This will be a regular meeting with 4 speeches, 4 evaluations and a round of Table Topics — an improvised speaking game where guests are free to participate.
This meeting’s theme will be: PLAYING ROLES
Throughout life, we play different roles, depending on the social context. You’re a father or mother to your children, a shoulder to cry on for your best friend, the extravagant storyteller at the bar with your friends, or a distinguished speaker at Toastmasters… We put on a slightly different mask for each occasion. In this meeting we’ll explore that performative side of our life.
Which roles do you play in life? Which roles do you want to play? Do you believe life is all about “fake it ’til you make it?” Who are you when you’re all alone, just you by yourself, and there is no role to play? This meeting, we’ll explore all of this & more as we dive deep into what constitutes an identity & a personality, and if you’re brave enough, you might engage in a little role play yourself…
Remember to bring your own refreshments and/or refillable bottle, as the Romaanse Poort is a private venue. Also: dress appropriately, as the building has reduced heating during the energy crisis.
